Recently watched: documentaries or stories about famous fashion designers.

Last year in Riga was happening annual movie festival called "Baltic pearl". This festival didn`t caught my attention so much as another movie festival called "Arsenāls", which weardly happened almost in same time. Last year I had a chanse to try out my photographer skills in "Arsenāls" as a volunteer photographer. It was an amazing experience and I was abel to visit openings and watch movies for free, but my sceagule was filled whith school and events so I had no time to watch movies which were showed at "Baltic pearl". Last week I found "Baltic pearl" brochure and I was a bit shocked. I actually didn`t had any idea that there were so many movies about these world-known fashion designers!

1. Lagerfeld Confidential (2007)

Personally I`m not a very huge die-hard Karl Lagerfeld or Chanel fan, but I admire his work and style concept of this fashion house. Actually I realy enjoyed this movie, because It had a humor, I got to know Karl better as a human, not this all marketing illusion and I got a chance to see how this branding works. An actual work not just result at the end.

 2. Coco avant Chanel (2009)

OK, this wasn`t recently watched movie, because I`ve already seen it two years ago. :) It wasn`t a documentary, as I hoped, but still it was realy interesting to see the begining of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel life before she choosed designer career. I`m not sure how much I can believe the script, because I haven`t red her biography. Still I loved that in story there were, at some parts tragic, sense of romance. And loved Audrey Tautou, because she is one of my favorite actresses.

3. Yves Saint Laurent: L'amour fou. (2010)

Reviews prepared me to take a tissue, because they said that this is gonna be really sad movie. And it kinda was but I didn`t bursted in tears. I felt it kind a depressing, but still it showed the point that fashion world isn`t always so shiny and sparkling dream land. It can suck out your energy and enjoyment of life, so you have to learn how to survive if you want to live in it. For me, movie was a bit too boring and slow, but still I recomend to see it.

4.  Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008)

This movie also wasn`t what I expected. It was a lot more better!
It was realy interesting documentary in which I felt more involved as a viewer than in K.Lagerfelds movie. I loved Valentino Garavani humor, adorable quarrels with Giancarlo Giammetti about who is fatter and of course sense of Valentinos artist ego. And again I loved that I saw the process of all the work from dress sketch to big runway. I`ve already watched it again 2 times, but I`m sure, after a while I will want to see it again. :)

Photographer of month: Lara Jade.

About 7 year's ago unintentionally I found Lara's profile in deviantart and instantly I fell in love with her work. Since then I was really inspired to push my own boundaries as a photographer, even without good equipment.
Here are some of my favorite Laras shoots..
